Early Christmas?

Yesterday my apartment had "Christmas morning." It was a blast. We took pictures in our PJ's and had stockings, opened presents, and then Christmas breakfast (which consisted of cinnamon rolls, eggs, and sausage). It really felt like Christmas! (minus the family)

Mama!

About two weeks ago Mom and Janet Avery came to visit for a girl's weekend. We had a blast! We went to the corn maze, shopping, and a concert. Thanks for coming!

I just wanna have fun...

Can't I just play and laugh and have a good time?

Anyway, I'm a bit stressed. It is officially half way through the semester and things are only getting harder. I've had 4 tests in the last week, all of which I scored lower than a 75%...what's happening? I'm a straight A student! Any words of inspiration?

Besides work and school, here are some things that have happened:

Hit a parked car.

Lost every single soccer game on the "Kickin' Littles" team.

Lots of concerts at Sammy's. (The new diner in Rexburg)

Saturday football games.

Mocktail party.

And Mom and Janet Avery came to visit...pictures to come soon.

I don't wanna grow up...

Hello blogging world! I've forgotten about you...but just wanted to let you all know that I am doing fantastic! I am back in Rexburg and I love it! I am living in American Manor again, however I moved into a newly-remodeled apartment...it's not as cool as my last split-level apartment, but it's nice and spacious.

I have three new roommates (still living with Amber and Ashley from the last two summers) and we are all getting along great so far. My bedroom roommate is Connie from Firth, Idaho so we get along pretty well (being Idaho girls and all). And the other two are Casey and Natalie, both from Washington.

I feel like an actual student this semester! I'm taking real classes...including:

Anatomy/Physiology (4 credits)
Program Management (3 credits)
Facility Management (3 credits)
Sports Conditioning (2 credits)
New Testament (2 credits)
Canyoneering (2 credits)--my ONE fun class...but it doesn't start until the second half of the semester

Also, I got a job on campus, working in the Recreation Management Department office as a student secretary. It's probably the easiest job on campus. I make copies when needed, answer the phone when it rings (like once a day), and answer questions when students come in (which is rare). So basically I get paid to do my homework and sit and look pretty.

More news! I joined a soccer team! Rec Sports (also known as intramural sports) starts this week...we have a game tonight! I'm pretty excited since I took a soccer class last semester and I actually have some skills instead of running around trying to kick the ball. (Imagine...a Hartley child who doesn't eat, sleep, and breathe soccer!)

So, I'm entering the real world...classes all morning, work in the afternoon, get home after 5:00, eat dinner, study, and try to fit in a workout or whatever other activities the day provides. I'm trying not to complain, but I will admit I've had it pretty darn easy for the last couple years. But it's time to be a big girl now.

I'm sure this is all really boring to all of you...but I'm at work and I'm bored...so it's wasting some time!

What day is it?

I can't believe that the semester is already over. Today I took my last final and tomorrow is my last day of class. The semester FLEW by. Typically the end of a semester is full of excitement, relief, and hope towards the future. however, this time I'm wishing it wasn't ending. I've been having a BLAST this time around! Granted I had an easy scholastic load and super fun classes...but I also made tons of new friends, experienced new things, and pushed myself farther than I thought I could. Particularly, the last few weeks have been an adventure! Some things that I've been doing include:

3 days of climbing and camping at City of Rocks (one of the top 5 rock climbing locations in the nation)
swimming and tanning at Rigby Lake and the St. Anthony Sand Bar
more rock climbing
hiking at Targhee Resort and photographing the Teton Mountains
camping at Palisades Reservoir with Candice, Maria, Kurt, and Matt
ward closing social at the ropes course

Here are a few photos of my various adventures!

Also, today I finished up my Outdoor Photography class. My final project is a slideshow of some of my work. Here is a link which will direct you to Google docs and then you can download the powerpoint file and view the slideshow.
Please take a look and tell me what you think!

I'm Famous!

On Saturday, a major event occurred in Rexburg. A massive waterfight was organized to take place in Porter Park. It was called The Epic Waterfight War: The Battle of Porter Park. Teams were according to where you lived. East side of town was red, west side was blue. There were tons of people and it most definitely was epic. I even made the front page of the school weekly newspaper, The Scroll! check it out!

I didn't get any pictures myself of the major event because I wanted to participate and I didn't want to damage either of my cameras with water! But below is a youtube video that pretty much sums up the day.

Recently...

I really don't have any reason to post...but I'm kind of bored and I thought you guys would want an update. School is going really well...we are officially half way through the semester. Two of my classes are over, being that they are "block" courses that only last for half of the semester. I started my outdoor photography class and this week I will also be starting rock climbing, and soccer. I know, I've got it hard.
Most of you already know, but Memorial Day weekend I surprised my family and showed up on Thursday afternoon. We went camping and I had some good quality baby time with Campbell, Brayli, Addie, and Davis over the course of the weekend. Right before I left town I snapped some pictures of Brayli for her 9 month old pictures. I haven't gotten around to emailing them to Beth yet...so here is just a sneak peak.

Adventures!

So my time in Rexburg has been fantastic so far! I am meeting so many new people, making new friends, and going on lots of super adventures! Some things include: making homemade ice cream and brownies, playing hide-and-go-seek in the caves, swimming at Lava Hot Springs, visiting Mesa Falls, and bonfires!

Bad Day

Yesterday was probably one the the worst experiences of my life. As I said before I am taking a Winter Mountaineering class. Yesterday was our first trip out on the mountain. We were supposed to summit Bell Mountain in the Lemhi region. The hike started out great, but soon we encountered snow. The snow was slushy and icy. Every two steps, I sunk into the snow up to my waist. I was pulling myself out of the snow, crawling on hands and knees, just to fall back into the snow a few seconds later. This went on for about 2 miles, while trying to elevate a couple thousand feet. No biggie. I was frustrated, I was exhausted, I was angry. We got to a point where it's straight up the mountain over rock which is covered and surrounded by snow, ice, water, and loose rock. I was slipping and falling and scared out of my pants. My teacher said that it would pretty much be like that for the rest of the way...I gave up. I turned around and waited for the rest of my class to finish their climb and come back. The most embarrassing, frustrating, and painful experience ever. My legs are swollen and covered in giant bruises, my eyes are sunburned, and every muscle and bone of my body is in pain. So...that's my story...and I don't really want to talk about it anymore.

New Semester

So Spring semester started last week. I am living with some of the same girls I lived with last summer. This includes Maria, Amber, and Ashley. I have one new roommate Jessi (the tiny one on the bottom left) and I think it will be a super fun semester.

We are living at American Manor. We got one of the split level apartments that are really popular within the complex. There are three bedrooms, all with their own bathroom within the bedroom. I love it! What I don't love is the 80's purple velor couches with gold trim that they have had since the apartment complex opened. Not to mention the love seat is literally a hole...you sit on it and your bottom is touching the floor...no exaggeration.

My class schedule includes: Accessible Recreation, Personal Health and Wellness, Family Foundations, Motor Development, and Winter Mountaineering (Yes, WINTER Mountaineering in the Spring...it's the best time of the year for mountaineering in Idaho because there is still snow in the mountains with low Avalanche risk and easier climbing since it isn't powder). Also, next block (which starts in June) I will be taking Soccer, Rock Climbing, and hopefully Outdoor Photography.

I know it sounds like I just play all day...which I kind of do...but hey, why not have fun? Men are that they might have joy!

P.S. I just deleted my address because I realized that my blog is not private and I don't want me or my roommates to get killed or stalked or something...so if you want to send me mail let me know and I will send you my address. :)

What Sound Does A Bunny Make?

Happy Easter! Some of the festivities on Saturday: 10th Ward Easter breakfast, shopping with Mom, Birthday dinner at Outback with Chad and Britt, coloring eggs, MarioKart Wii challenges, and a movie with Keisha. Thanks for a great birthday everybody! And of course today we watched general conference and had an Easter ham...and lots of Easter candy from the Easter Bunny, and then went to Melba to spend some time with the family (but mainly baby Campbell).

Cutesies

Last night I made these cute little rocks. Today I glued magnets on the back. Aren't they cute?

And then with the paper, I made some cute cards! the paper is glittery so they are actually cuter in person.

Logan

Last week mom and I headed down to Logan for a quick trip. This summer I want to be an EFY counselor for a few weeks after my semester, so I had an interview last week. It was probably one of the worst interviews I've ever had. For one, it was a group interview...with 10 other young adults who wanted to be a counselor too. And, about 2 or 3 people in the group were very vocal and "leader" type...so basically I never got the chance to really say what I wanted. Oh well. I will find out in 4-6 weeks, but I won't be surprised if I don't get it.
But while we were there we went out to dinner with Tyler and Aubrey at the Logan's famous Bluebird restaurant. They have this really awesome old ice cream bar that I was dying to take some sweet pictures of...however...I didn't because the wait staff was sitting on it...and it kind of ruined the photo opp. But don't worry because I definitely plan on going back to get those shots! We also had a sundae that was called the Teddy Bear...and we started eating it so fast that we didn't realize that it was supposed to look like a teddy bear...another thing I wanted a picture of. Oops. But this is what I did get...

I give up!

Well, daily posts have come to a halt. I might get back into it sometime, but right now I am just going to take a little break. I have a hard time finding things to post about because I'm on break and I haven't done anything super exciting. We will see what happens in the future.

The puppies are getting big! They have their eyes open and are starting to figure out walking. We only have two, a tan one and a black one.
